Until recently, most cultures looked at seniors as a vital element of society – a conduit of learning and experiential knowledge that should be nurtured and cared for. Our goal is to continue to promote and help sustain this and other valuable traditions through various ongoing programs and initiatives.
To foster independence
We provide the community with the skills needed to advance the leadership of the community at large. We also work to enhance services and capacity in developing and maintaining infrastructure for delivery of services to seniors in a culturally appropriate manner.
We provide support to community-based help providers through knowledge exchange and other educational initiatives. We also promote early intervention, prevention and treatment strategies that lead to acceptance and longevity in Canada.
Our programs help to relieve poverty by increasing the ability of older adults to remain active and healthy, and to live independently.
